Thank you all for thinking of my family and I during the Hurricane and it's aftermath. We finally got our power back last night and now that the temperature has reached a livable level we can return home.
I went jogging through my town yesterday and was heartbroken to see the amount of devastation on each and every street. I passed huge trees laying on houses, on cars, across roads, and this 2 full weeks after Sandy hit. The most terrifying sight was that of a vacant lot where a house stood before the storm. A falling tree hit a gas line causing the house to explode. There's nothing left. Luckily, one of our neighbors (who was also a first responder in Manhattan on September 11th) was able to get into the house and save the man who lived there. God bless him.

Wow, it's crazy to see pictures of the devastation from someone who was actually there...not just from the news.
ReplyDeleteGlad you and your family is safe and that you finally have power. Its been overwhelming seeing the pictures and news reports but reading stories on blogs brings a whole new feeling of devastation. Praying life can return somehow back to normal for you. xo Sara

I am so sorry for the destruction you've experienced. I'm so glad though that people are as empathetic as they are sometimes and that your neighbors was both saved and hero.
