History and Such

4.28.2011

This afternoon I walked over to St. Pauls Cathedral to vote against knocking it down. The fact that this was even a topic to vote on makes me pretty sick. St. Paul’s is a beautiful Cathedral of Victorian Gothic design. It was built in 1879, and whoever it is that runs this town wanted to knock it down to put, what- condos?! in its place. Ridiculous.

We found out this evening that the overwhelming vote was to keep St. Pauls and thank gosh because how disheartening would that be? It's an amazing historical landmark and although it's in need of some repair, it could be a great community building.

In other news, it's after 2am again. How does this happen? I really need to go to sleep earlier. Maybe tomorrow night I will go to sleep earlier. Tonight Matt and I decided that if we were birds he would be a rooster and I would be an owl. He said we could not be together because we would never see each other since we would be sleeping whenever the other one was awake. I told him my owl self would be the first morning owl ever!

Re-reading that makes me realize that I'm really tired. Oh boy.

  1. I'm glad that the church gets to stay!!

You learn to work around each others differences. Sometimes it's about compromise and then other times life gets in the way and you have to becoming an early bird & late bird!

  7. So glad the church was saved! The history of old buildings like that is what makes a community...not some crummy condo mega-plex.

  10. aw good for you for voting. I'm weird and I feel bad for inanimate objects more than i do people. I would cry if that church got knocked down. I also cry when I see things in the garbage sometimes because I feel bad for them.... I"m mental. hahah. Oh and I do the same thing. I could be dead tired and then I realize it's 4 AM and I am staring at facebook stalking someone I don't even know lol. Vampire life.

  11. Unbelievable that they can even think about tearing a beautiful church like that apart. Glad the majority decided against it.

  12. I'm glad that the church gets to stay. I haaaaate when people propose to tear down something so historic to put crappy overpriced housing in its place. How are we supposed to maintain a sense of history if people want to just tear it down?
