IIIIII am a spaz. But we'll get to that later.
I had that meeting with the boutique in Brooklyn today! (I mentioned it in my last post.) It went really well and the shop owners were so sweet and adorable. I've been getting ready for this meeting for the past 2 weeks.. I had to finish up some designs, make and print a lookbook, come up with some sort of way to present my pieces and squeeze in time to do my other work. It was hectic.
I'll find out next week if the shop would like to stock some of my designs. I'm nervous and excited to hear back. The owners had some very nice things to say about my jewelry line, so we shall see! I'm also fairly certain that I made a memorable impression. This is where I explain how I am a huge spaz. Actually, you can take a look at the wooden box I decorated to hold all of my products. It was the box my mom used to hold her oil paints in college...
So this morning I woke up early to finish decorating my wooden box. Marissa and I caught a 12:17pm train to Brooklyn that was supposed to get in at 1:03pm. My appointment was at 1:30pm, so I should have gotten there in plenty of time. Well, let me tell you. The day the Long Island Railroad gets me anywhere on time will be the day that pigs fly.. or something equally impossible happens.
We got to our stop at 1:10 instead of 1:03. Those 7 minutes were really important. We ran outside to check out the taxi situation- you should also know that finding a taxi in Brooklyn is dang near impossible. We gave up after about 1.5 minutes of crazy traffic going by with no yellow cabs in it. Ran back into the station to get on the subway. Waited a few minutes for the train. Got on the train and breathed a sigh of relief. It was 1:20 and I was going to make it on time to my 1:30pm appointment.
Well. It would have been great if the subway stop was right outside the shop, but it's actually about 13 blocks away. It's now 1:25 and we need to cover 13 blocks. I ran. Ok, I half jogged, half speed walked and completely panicked. It was also over 80 degrees today so I was sweating profusely. Did I mention I was panicking, too? I was. I somehow made it into the shop at 1:33, but I was sweating.. visibly sweating, and shaking because when I panic, I shake. I also have a hard time making sentences.
Hopefully, they just thought my flustered demeanor was "cute" and not "insane."
By the way, I have a lot of blog reading to do.. I feel so out of the loop because of this past week.. but thaaaaank you for leaving such nice comments about my new designs.. I really appreciate it and I brought a little extra confidence to my meeting today because of you guys!
Your look book seems adorable!
ReplyDeletePhew, its over! And hopefully you can chill out and your hard work payed off.
You travel situation ALWAYS seems to happen to me. Regardless of how early I leave, I usually end up getting to my appointments late.
