hello!

1.19.2011

Hello out there and welcome to my new blog!

I'm really excited to meet you and to fill this space with tons of pretty things, goals, travels, and other musings.

So, Hi! My name is Sarah. I recently started my own business selling my handmade jewelry and artwork on Etsy. I work really hard, but I absolutely love what I do. I have a long way to go to reach my dreams, but I'm definitely enjoying the process.

Before I opened "A Lost Feather," my Etsy Shop, I worked in Marketing for Canon USA. Yes, (*presses imaginary shutter release button*) the camera company. I was with Canon for 2 years. I learned a lot, a LOT, and I met some very sweet people (some of which I will keep in my life forever.)

Aside from the valuable business knowledge I gained while at Canon, I also learned a lot about myself. I was not made for Corporate America.. I also learned that, that is perfectly alright. I realized that I would not be happy until I was using my creativity every day and once I understood that about myself, it was impossible to ignore.

I took a giant leap of faith and left my job, along with my nice salary and benefits, on July 14th, 2010. I suppose I am still mid leap, but it's not so scary anymore. It's more of a rush.

I've been inspired by many bloggers lately and decided that I wanted to start a blog of my own where I can keep all of my inspiration and progress as a young business owner. From what I've found, the blogging world can be like a little office (my type of office.) There even seems to be time at the "water cooler" where bloggers chit chat during their days of working in their darkrooms, studios and traveling the world.

I want in on that! I want to chit chat at the proverbial water cooler.

Anyway..

Here are a few of the topics I plan on posting about:
  • Art
  • Travel
  • Photography
  • Growing my baby business
  • Life's Adventures
I hope you'll come along on the journey..
